ProTools HD on a PC?

Haven't been able to find anything about this. Anyone ever do it? Is it the same? Different?

I was thinking about getting an 8 core PC and running an HD1. Is this just hairbrain?

One could come to the conclusion that it's because there is far LESS problems running ProTools HD on a PC!!!

Sorry, I couldn't resist!

We've never had any problems. Been on a PC for about 3 years.

I tried on a PC and it was a nightmare ... switched to a Mac and
things sailed along beautifully.

If you go PC, pay incredibly close attention to the supported
hardware ...

I just picked up a Dell T5400 and I'll be putting my HD2 in it tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. It's the same chipset and CPU family as the mac pro so it should hopefully work well.

Most post production places seem to be running HD on pc it seems..
Prob because of cost and ease of networking?

Cross Platform?

How is the session interchange between platforms? I know that in the past, when I've tried to mount a PC formatted drive on a Mac (and vice versa) I've run into performance issues that made the drives unusable. The information had to be copied to the appropriate drive.

Will a PC read a Mac session file without a problem or does there need to be a [Save Session Copy In...]?

The "Force Mac Compatibility" has been the default for some time now.

I only use Mac HFS+ formatted drives on both platforms using MacDrive on XP.

Can you cut to the drive on both platforms?
