new macbooks vs. previous generations

Friends,

I'm in the market for a new Macbook Pro, to run some softsynths and samplers on the side.

The new aluminum machines have penryn chips. The last generation macbook pros have santa rosa chips.

Does anyone have any experience with the two and how they may handle running softsynth and samplers like Kontakt? I've read some comparisons with other industry programs but nothing musical.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
paz

Actually, any Macbook Pro made after Feb 2008 also have Penryn chips in them... and I think all of the ones that you see on sale right now are 2008 models (I doubt Macmall would even have 2007 MBPs). Check out this deal from MacMall, thats a 2.6 ghz Penryn processor.
