Old MH MIO with expanded side by side

Hi,

I just bought a Metric halo 2882 expanded to go side by side with my old one.
I figured the expanded one could be the master clock etc.
Thing is...I can't find any advice on how to get the two working together.
The reason I bought it was to record an extra 8 channels.
Do I have to have two MIO consoles running? I have read that the old one won't work with the new software but when I try and install the new mixer it wants to overwrite my old version.

Thanks!

No -- the new version of the software will work fine with both boxes -- simultaneously.

You can run the non-expanded box into the expanded box via ADAT or you can use an aggregate device. depends on what you are trying to do.

You can also always update your non-expanded box with a 2d Card.

Thanks,
It says in the manual thingy not to install the new version on the legacy box.
I thought it I had two of these they would run nicely side by side.
If I run adat in, how do I control the input settings on that box? Would I route via firewire to the expanded as well?
At the moment I can't even get the mio as a preference on mac settings.
I've installed all four packages on the CD.
Damn this is a complicated upgrade...

Just to be clear -- it says not to install the new version of the FIRMWARE on a legacy box (there is one branch of firmware for legacy: 2.2.x and a new branch of firmware for 2d Expanded: 5.0.x).

But the driver and MIO Console work properly with both Legacy and Expanded boxes simultaneously.

So the new software is fine, even with legacy boxes, but the the firmware is specific to the configuration of the specific box.

BTW, if you are installing a 2d Card, make sure that the software that you are using is the latest version; if you are installing from CD we may have already updated from what is on the CD -- check the website (Metric Halo).

The current version is 5.1
