I checked it out and it seems some Dell latptops are not 'offically' supported. I suppose there could be a small margin of possibility in such a case.

Here's the info I found:

Good luck to your chum!

Hey, I wonder if we could try an install with my MBox,

I bet it wont go on 2 computers at once... something like that..

I put mine on my mac, can I try to hook it up to a PC too?

Any ideas?

If you have the PC software, there should be no problem, they have everyone by the balls due to the hardware, they know you can only use as many copies of LE as you have interfaces anyway.

Give it a shot!

While Dell's are on the offical Digi compatibility "no - no" list, I have a Dell Inspiron 5000e with the MBox that works great! The key is the chipset (s) and how they play with the usb bus. The motheroard in my particular laptop has the Intel chipset, so it works great. The internal hard drive is a bit slow, but I can still manage to edit 32 track sessions. With my external firewire drive it's fantastic. If you could have your friend download SiSoft Sandra
this little utility will tell you everything about your p.c. ; processor, chipset, memory, bus speed, EVERYTHING! Very handy for us p.c. guys....
With this info, and doing some searches on the DUC you can probably get a good idea if it's going to work up front.
I HIGHLY recommend an external hard drive though, laptop drives are notoriously sloooooooooooow! Good luck, TommyD

The hardware for PC or Mac Mboxes is the same.

Those who bought the Mbox with only the Mac software included can download the XP version for free.

Mbox will only run on windows XP. Users have to install a windows XP service pack :

you probably need to upgrade the firmware too :

That's about it I think ... and should work.
