I'm told it's like Distorted Reality done in a plug in.
I'll probably get it but I'm wary of the over complicated and 80's (yes I said it) nature of a lot of Spectrasonics patches. - see Stylus thread -
What's wrong with a few plain sounds you can custom bank or process yourself?

I loved Distorted Reality(I &II).

Eric Persing is one of the most innovative programmers in synth history.

His stuff for Roland back in the day practically put them on the map.

I will get it soon and check it out. I will report on it then.

I agree.
Spectrasonics are producing - on the whole - the finest sample libraries available.
My only two criticisms:
Some of the stuff is over elaborate.
A lot of the drum programming is very American.
- And not so useful outside of the US market -

Atmosphere is really really good! There are some wonderful elements and its flexible enough for you to make them your own. Being pads, the midi timing issues dont really come up so much, which makes it more of a pleasure to use than stylus. Good bit of gear.

The PSP stuff is cool... judge yourself by downloading a demo from:

http://www.pspaudioware.com/indexen.html

(try the 84 while you're at it)...

If you're considering Atmosphere, you should definitely look at Absynth (if you haven't done so already?) - I'd say it's one of the freshest synths (hardware or software) I've seen in years.

Atmosphere is great. Plenty of user friendly sounds out of the box. Some of the nastiest tastiest leads ever...

Absynth is cool... but a little less user friendly.

Atmosphere is great !!!

One of the best synth plug ins today.
I especially like the combination of Atmosphere as a preset player and virus as a "sound designer" synth.

the PSP42 is pretty decent for a plugin... its been years since i have used the hardware unit so my memory cant compare, indirectly. although it has replaced me having to insert a digitech multiplay into mixes when i want that modulated delay... though i still keep the stompbox for my guitars.

another vote for atmosphere. i love the way the patches slowly evolve. lots of subtle and not so subtle movement. run them thru a primetime at x8 for a deep retro sound.

athmosphere introduces depth in my songs, when I try to write one, because of bad arrangement and songwriting skills

its great for me;9

I think Atmos. is a great synth, very lush and complex sounding.. sometimes though the sounds are a bit too big or complicated to sit well in a busy mix, but overall its pretty amazing. I love the lex 42 (well, 84 ctually), although i have no idea how close it is to the original, i just like the modulated/filter delays it produces.. can really transform basic arps and stuff.. There are worthwhile alternatives though, camel audio filter (forgot the name) does a lot of that kind of effect and more..

It's the three year spectrasonics bug. Revives threads across the internet in an effort to promote their products. Evry three years like clockwork. heh

BTW, Atmosphere is a very cool plug!
