sd2 vs aiff vs wav

did a quick search and i couldnt see this has been done before...

are there any advantages to running a PT session as SD2? i can't see any advantage when you can use aiffs and get the same result with better compatability. do any sound better? any light shed would be appreciated

No diff in sound - it's just the header info and how the file is read. The audio in unchanged.

FWIW, all 4 of our PT rigs are set to default to wav files...

AIFF here. No sonic difference I can tell, but when I drop the file into Toast, I don't have to wait for a proprietary conversion.

I have now standardised the sessions to BWAV. It makes all compatibility issues (especially with the occasional PC le rig) a thing of the past. I can't see a good reason no to do so nowadays.
