Older Non-Apple Silicon plugins (AU versions) now WORKING on Tahoe 26.1?!
Can anyone else confirm if the AU versions of older plugins that never got proper Apple Silicon versions are now WORKING on Mac OS Tahoe 26.1 ?? Without Rosetta, or any kind of bridge solution?
Ive tested several older plugins without proper Apple Silicon versions and the AU components are now working flawlessly in the DAW (Ableton Live 12.3).
The VST and other versions of the plugins are still not appearing though.
This is without running Rosetta or anything of the like. If so this is HUGE because I can use Izotope's Trash 2 plugin again, as well as others that it previously seemed like time has passed by.

Why do you think the Intel plugins are running without Rosetta? Thereβs literally no other way to make them run.
Yeah without Rosetta, or some sort of translation layer, it's literally impossible. x86 code can't run on ARM and vice versa. Live is a Universal Binary, I'd guarantee its opening in Rosetta so it can host those, just like Cubase does if you have any x86 plugins still installed.

But intel AU plugins were always working because of the AUHostingCompatibilityService that runs under Rosetta2. If it didn't work before that's because you didn't allow Rosetta 2 to install. Now you have allowed it. It has nothing to do with Tahoe specifically, but thanks for verifying it still works!

Live does not open in Rosetta 2 "if you have any x86 plugins⦠installed". Live opens in Rosetta 2 because you open the info window of Live in Finder and check "Open using Rosetta".
Also, intel AU plugins will run directly in native Live, so no need to, unless the plug-in isn't working right. But Live under Rosetta 2 is not as efficient as native. We do know that xZenx isn't running Live under Rosetta 2 because intel VST plug-ins are not seen.

You need to run those in another host running under Rosetta 2. Could be Metaplugin right there in the DAW, but I feel it works less well than for example AudioGridder, that utilizes a server, set to run under Rosetta 2, and using the native AG plug-in that communicates with the server.
Another way would be to run Live under Rosetta 2, but this has clear drawbacks.
