After HADOPI France introduces LOOPSI

HADOPI (law against illegal downloading) was just a starter , but this new ensemble of laws is going much further .

Obligation for the ISP to filter content that's listed by the government as illegal , geolocalisation of internauts ,creation of an "offense of identity usurpation"(don't know how to say it better) on the net .

possibility to monitor computers on request . It will probably cause a stir but it will pass .

The general public won't feel threatened cause it doesn't speak of their illegal downloads .

I'm sure this kind of laws are at study in many countries as France is said to discuss international treaties with the US and Russia on this subject .

Not to worry - we all know what's going on here....let's see Sarkozy is married to who ? Yup - a frustrated musician. There are so many ways to get around this it isn't funny.

Let's talk about gear instead

That's a shorcut to say the least and the idea of a law against illegal downloads was introduced before Sarkosy was even married to Carla (discussions began at the time of the elections) .

And Carla is not a frustrated musician . She sold more than a 1 million albums of her first which is not too bad .

What are the ways to get around filtering by the ISP ?

Anyway your tone is very condescending for no reason .

As we are used to hearing in the fantastic Eurovision every year:

La France, nul points.

Here's a translated text (for the non French) regarding this Orwellian nightmare that will never pass:

The european parliament aware ? it was a proposition of a french european deputy ( of the opposition of course ) . regarding Loppsi , if you read properly the internet side is european and they even try to do it with the US and Russia .

If you read properly it says Russia or USA, not Russia and USA. (it's an example).

I have some contacts at European Parliament, will ask them this week.

I know in some EU countries they pursue "piracy" to such an extent that if you have a normal recordable cd with your own music on it then you pay a fine and have it confiscated unless you can prove that it was made by you. So you tell me, is that the kind of situation that we want? And does it actually change anything for the artists/musicians/labels? You think that fine money goes to the people involved?

Big brother will pass laws to "protect" you kind of like the protection a bully gives you.

Bingo

That shows the full hypocrisy of it. I think LOPPSI has a much bigger potential to be abused and to be invasive than HADOPI, and yet it has not created even a fraction of the hostility that Hadopi provoked .

Basically it's : "Hey , invade our privacy as much as you want, as long as we keep getting our free daily dose of opium..err.. i mean free daily dose of music, films, and videogames"

Anyways probably not the thread for it spaceman (sorry for last post in that case) but I guess a lot of us propirate or not have looked at an adult picture on the net (yes even you chrisso) and we have looked at the picture without subscribing to the website that took the picture or owns the right to the picture. The adult industry has exploded thanks to the internet and some adult websites leak their stuff on purpose. Adult movie/picture downloads are up there with song downloads.

So:

Is looking at/downloading an adult picture or video on the internet without being a member of site/having paid for privilege the same crime as downloading an mp3 you have not paid for?

If not - why not?

Hi,

Just talked to a politician this morning and our situation seems doomed .

- Hadopi (some of its articles at least) is gonna be made anti-constitutionnal . In the eyes of the public it will mean it's dead, no less .

- he added "anyway peer to peer is great , blocking it would slow down the digital economy " . translation : we don't care about entertainment there are more profitable businesses .

Wich party was he from ? cause telling you that it is anti-constitutionnal is almost a mandatory anwser if he's from the left :-)

And of course he doesn't care about the "entertainment" business.. Nobody cares about it. Artists are alone , and i think we should only count on ourselves to defend ourselves... That's the harsh truth. If all artists become conscious that we should take matters in our hand, we could do something, but it's not going to happen. Just read some of the threads on this forum to realize it...

mmm.. yes, that sounds really bad then.

And Spain is about to declare P2P totally legal. A case against a guy who shared 3300 films ( yes , that's three thousand movies ! ) has been relaxed, the judge saying that as long as it's for private use, it's ok...
