Eq that goes above 20k

What are all my options for eq's that go above 20k? Stepped pots or not. NO PLUGINS.

Every hardware EQ I have has some kind of >20 kHz function.

The Dangerous BAX and Summit Neve EQ-200 both have >20 kHz filters (30 - 70 kHz), the Kush Clariphonic top shelf goes from around 30 or 40 kHz and down, the Gyraf G14 has a 22 kHz parametric (on paper at least) and the Maselec MEA-2 has both a 24 kHz and 27 kHz setting for the two top bands (switchable parametrics or shelves).

But define what is "going over 20k". Sure Avalon has 32k band, but it is rather the point of the curve than going over 20k in real. If you know what I mean.

Sontec MEP250EX goes to 25.6k. I use it quite a lot up there with a wide Q as an air boost.

Maag EQs go up to 40k (edit: oops already been mentioned)
But in reality boosting that high is rarely interesting to me. It usually sounds quite "pasted on".

Boosting above 20k is so you can make use of the curve the eq is making below 20k so you'll achieve different sounds to the air / openness and of course your cat will enjoy the music more!!

Turn the knobs and you'll hear the effect! then decide if you like it or not,
(that's pretty much mastering summed up right there )

imho, streaky meant that EQ curves set to frequencies above 20kHz audibly and measurably affect content below 20kHz. It's not a million dollar man thing, it's a matter of understanding how EQs and their curves are specified.

You've probably heard of the fact that a low-pass filter's cut-off is usually specified at the point where the filter achieves 3dB of reduction. Now, how do you reduce 20kHz by only one dB?

The solution is to move the cut-off far point above 20kHz.

Same applies to shelving and peaking filters, there are very reasonable reasons to move a filter's cut-off/centre frequency outside the audible range.

+1

To get the fact, try to record something at 192kHz that have high enough content eg. overhead and check the spectrum, that's will explain.

Cheers

The CharterOak PEQ-1 highest frequency can be set at 50Khz... and it sounds delicious!!! (no, I'm 43 and can't listen above 16K, but what this EQ does is really nice) and other users comment the same about the eq.
The other frequencies in the eq work quite nicely too... but this one is magical.
