EQs with true stereo control

Just thought I'd start this thread for people to note down any hardware EQs they come across that have true stereo control: i.e. one pot or switch controls both left and right. This configuration is so much better for me, workflow-wise, than separate controls for left and right. I really have no interest in ever buying another EQ with separate L/R controls again.

That said, many units with true stereo control are not built to acceptable tolerences for mastering.

So, to get us going off the top of my head. EQ units suitable for mastering with ganged stereo control:

Sontec 482
Gryaf G14
Gyraf G23/G23-S
Knif Eksa (with optional mod)
Hendyamps Michelangelo
Custom Audio Germany HDE-450 (Sontec inspired)
Various ADT modules
Various Bereich03 modules
Elysia xfilter
Summit MPE 200
Neumann OEV
Weiss EQ1
Junger Audio E07
High Voltage Audio EQ6S
D.W. Fearn VT-5
IGS Rubber Bands
MT-E.8012 ORCA BAY
Charter Oak PEQ-1
Drawmer 1974
51dB Audio Mastering Peqex 5+
Neve 2087/32087
Bettermaker mastering EQ
Porter Grinder EQ (custom build)

Any more?

High Voltage Audio EQ6S:

Heavily based on the Maag EQ4M, I actually sold my EQ4M and replaced it with this because of the true stereo controls, lower noise floor, and overall more enjoyable experience than the EQ4M for mastering.

The original SPL PQ 2050 is motorized stereo

Cutting versions of the Sontec 430b / 432 can also be used stereo. (L channel to preview, R channel on program) ... they are 4x channels total, each side of controls are ganged.

Zsys is stereo, so is Junger ... in fact almost all digital hardware defaults to stereo operation unless you explicitly un-link

In the Great River MAQ-2NV, the link switch makes the left channel the master for both, the only controls not linked are the amplitudes. Works for me

I'm with you on that Tom.

The Bereich03 modules came to mind.

How do you dig this? Did you buy it direct... how long did it take to land?

Love it. I bought it direct from them maybe a year or so ago. It took less than two weeks easily from Australia to Wisconsin.

I haven't checked in a while but the AUD to USD exchange rate made it very affordable. I don't know how they got it so great sounding at this price point but it truly sounds great, low noise floor, and way more ergonomically friendly than the Maag. The left/right channel balance is better too, even after having sent my EQ4M to Maag for a tune-up. Not that the Maag was way off, but more than you'd expect for a mastering piece.

EQ6S all the way. Normally I'm a stick to the classics name brand person but this unit is superior IMO.

Yeah. I'm normally not a clone/knockoff kind of person but this is sonically on par with the Maag, but with a lower noise floor and better ergonomics for mastering. Kind of a no-brainer if you're in the market for something like it.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

Is anyone aware if any of the major custom-order builders of Sontec clones, Barry Porters etc offer a linked stereo option?

That's pricing for the HDE-250, not the HDE-450.

You forgot to mention that it is very sexy. Everyone should get one.

I also got very lucky, and convinced Gustav to build me a stereo ganged Porter Grinder when he was ironing out the last circuit board revisions.

In both cases I had the switches already so it wasn't toooo much of a hassle for them.

So you can add those to the list except they are only available to jammy bastards.
