Tracking post-fader compressor in Cubase?

Hi all,

I'd like to be able to "ride the gain" whilst tracking in cubase 6.5
I don't have an outboard mixer.

I'd like the following structure:

Mic -> Pre -> Eq -> FADER -> Compressor -> Record

Point of the exercise of course is to ride gain before it goes in the Compression!
I'm not quite sure how to "patch" this in Cubase; I'm fine up until Eq but should I then put the Compression on another channel as a Send- effect? If I do that it just ends up on master bus, not in Tracking. And I think any Inserts on the Input fader are all pre-fader, or is there a way to put inserts (plugins) on the Input fader as a post fader??

Thanks all!

I found the answer - apparently insert slots 7 and 8 are post fader !

In that case , purely theoretic, what if one wants to put more than 2 post fader inserts whilst tracking?? Cheers!

Use a chainer plugin.
