SM57 right angle mod 90 degree

heres my mod on my sm57, it was too long for my iso box and didn't want to buy a right angled mic since ive got several 57's so here ya go super simple and reliable.

disassemble the mic (it unscrews) mark the green and yellow wire solder tabs, unsolder them, get a 3/4" PVC street 90 (hub on one side, do not use cpvc)
heat the hub end of the pipe slightly and screw the mic element end into it forcefully so it will make its own threads inside the hub. the other end is a press/force fit, it will stay in dont worry, get some wire, stranded phone wire is the correct stuff but use whatever, solder your ends up, heat shrink them and slide the 90 over the wire. solder your wire ends to the mic element. screw the element into the 90 first, make sure the wires aren't twisted together too tight, but you do want them twisted together loosely, then push the the other end into the handle/body of the mic while giving it a twist, it will lock in place by friction.
Thats it, you can machine the PVC elbow down and paint it to match if you want so it looks pro or you can go ghetto if you want. Mines in an iso cab permanently so who cares what it looks like.

Very cool! Looks really easy too, I might have to do this with one of my 57s.
