Tubes and Biasing

I have an ART TPSII that I wanna change the tubes in. I've heard people getting good results with different tubes. I said this to someone in passing and they said oh make sure you look up biasing first. Which I did and it kinda hurt my head in parts, there's some things I don't get.
How do I know if I need to adjust the biasing in the pre amp?
Is there a way of reading the differences?
How do I change the biasing exactly?

Maybe I need to read up some more but stuff I have read seems to be greatly detailed and vague at the same time!
Can any one help with this please??
Thanks!

Peter

Preamp tubes do not need to be biased. Just find a suitable replacement or substitute for the one currently in the unit and swamp 'em and you should be good to go.

Power Tubes (pairs and quads) run in class AB (?) where 1 tube or pair is amplifying a portion of the signal and the other tube (pair) amplifies the other portion of the signal (referred to as a push pull setup) generally require the bias be set when replacing them.

Some power tubes are run in a self biasing setup it just depends on the circuit.
