Grace M101 vs Focusrite ISA One?

Hi,

Does anyone on here have any experience with both of these pres?

Could anyone describe the tone of both of these pres and which has the least amount of hiss?

Hi. they are both fabulous mic preamplifiers. I can tell you at least regarding the Grace m101, noise performance is excellent.

I've always felt the Grace to be a bit overpriced for just a wire and gain outfit.

Yep, I have a Grace M101 and its amazing clear (if you like it), tons of headroom and have a feature "Ribbon" that put some Mojo for Ribbon Mics besides the fact of cut off the 48v phantom power for safe purposes, also has a High Pass Filter and the unit itself is very well build.

I had a grace 201. And currently have a focusrite 428 and pair of 110. They are all good pres. I tend to prefer the focusrites because they give more sonic options. The grace is gain on a wire, and has one sound. That isn't of any special flavor. Pretty clean and does nothing to improve the sound.

So, if I wanted pure clean gain. I might get the grace.

However, I don't think there is any better deal on pres right now better than a used 428.

Good luck.
