Behringer DX4600

hey guys...

Alright.. here's my deal... I want to improve my live sound set up a bit, and as for compressors, I only have one Behringer Composer that has two channels of compression. I want to expand and I saw the Behringer MULTICOM PRO-XL MDX4600. I'm not doing anything super high end for now.. just some compression on vocals and drums. I was also looking at the Alesis 3630 as a possibility. It only has two channels, but is it a better buy than the Behringer(which has 4 channels of compression/limiting)? Any input is welcom.. other suggestions are also welcome.. I don't want to spend more than $200, which i realize puts me in a tight spot. Thanks guys!

It's alright. I had one but I sold it. It doesn't have as much control features as the Composer, Auto-Com, but it'll work for your application! Just don't expect to put alot of signal into it without squashing it...! ( inherent of the compressor, lacks headroom as in most Behringer products)... ...I found it does ok with individual signals, nothing composite..i.e. mix-buss..( forgitaboutit...!).(YMMV)

The 3630 was the 1st compressor I had, I used it in my guitar rig. The 3630 is a very "colorfull" unit, in my opinion it is ****. I guess it works on somethings (more for color/effect) but in no way clean sounding. I sold mine to a friend who allready had 2 of them. I think I have seen a mod for the 3630.

I also have the Behringer Composer. Which is.........pretty standard. I like it much better than the 3630. Its not to bad for the price you pay.

The MDX4600, dont have one, I guess its a better "bang for the buck", sutible for live use. Ive seen them in a few PA rigs.

(I got an RNC. Which I rather have than both of those units.)

you cant even class those things as a compressor, just boxes that kill the dynamics while making everything sound terrible.
do you self a huge favour and buy a dbx
