Good pre for under £450?

Preferrably as cheap as possible but looking for a fairly good pre, nothing neccasserily spectacular, but just something good for around that price point

Thanks
Mike

Better or worst than your RNP?

Well with the RNP I'm not sure if it's just me, it feels lacking in bass a little. Or should I just stick with the RNP?

the rnp is great, I'm not sure about the bass thing. How is your room? what is your a/d and d/a?

If you are close to a music store I would try out as many as you can until you start to hear what you are thinking of in your head. Do you want it a little hyped? maybe a neve colored sound? not sure what you are hearing. maybe a tube pre might be what you are hearing, not sure.

I like the altered sound myself and rarely use any of my clean pre's I like it more colored for the rock vein of music I record.
