Cheap Versatile Mic

I need a mic for around 300$,the lower the price the better. I will be using this for recording acoustic guitar, vocals and maybe for miking an electric guitar. Any suggestions on what will be best for this at a low price?

I have the SE Electronic 2200A and its great.

Works really nice for all types of guitar (including bass), and vocals and such.

Shure KSM 27 would be a great choice. Sounds very good. Has two high pass filters and a pad. $299. You'll keep it a long time. Much better than the Chinese choices.

+ 1 on the KSM 27.

It was my first mic and I think it sounds great on vocals and low freq stuff like bass.

Perfect price and performance for entry level.

Watch out with this one. Much sibilance around 6/7Khz... Not always good for rap vocals.

I want to add the AKG C214. If you search good you find them for around 320dollars. Really really good mic.

I finally tried it out last night and wow, nice presence, no sibilance, this mic sounds great. Reminds me of Neumann mics.

Amen bruthah

"for recording acoustic guitar, vocals and maybe for miking an electric guitar" I would say the HM-2D would be just the ticket.. or a pair of HM-1s, that also excell as great drum OHs.

Pick up a used AT4047 and it will shine on all three applications. A used KSM32 will also do well, but is more neutral. The 4047 is warmer.

Heil PR40 (or PR30)

most condensor-like dynamic mic I've ever used, and quite under appreciated.

SM7b, SM 57, or Heil PR30s could all be useful, depending on your application and taste.
