Best vocalist for under $500

With all the mic, pre, gear posts around here, how about a best vocalist?

I got a vocalist here that'll do it for 349 per song.

She only works from home though.

Male or female?

Personally, the singers pay me to record them, not the other way round. ;-)

It's true, they pay me as well for my producing skills, but sometimes I get people wanting to record their songs for publishers, and they need my voice to sell the songs.

Lucky you! I don't sing, just a recording engineer.

It's great because you can coach them when they're doing vocal takes, you tell them how to fix things they wouldn't normally hear, you sing the right parts to them and they learn, It's really a big plus to be a trained singer when producing vocals.

Understood.Five years of voice lessons and ten in choirs, I can coach but i don't sing for anyone, for good reason...

Well, no, but knowing how to do something and being able to do it well re very different things!

I was also a bass player, loved playing jazz and classical, but never practiced enough to subject others to my playing or singing. But the training and background was invaluable to my audio career! I can coach speakers and singers, but avoid trying to make an example of myself.

My entire approach is vastly different from most gearslutz here - I do the recordings, but not of myself. I also do a major amount of live sound, but am shy of even saying "test one two" (three... lift!) on stage unless it is just us techs... Maybe just shy?
