Allen and Heath GS1 desk

Is Allen and Heath GS1 desk analog or digital?

Maybe I missed something but I can't find the answer, and I have searched..

I have been offered one cheap, but I don't want it if it is digital.
Seller is not 100% sure.

Thanks

It's an old analog console, not digital.

GS1 desk

Hi there,
I used to own the A&H GS1 desk - It is a fantastic Board, very flexible routing, 100mm Alps Faders, 5 aux, 32 channels on mixdown, compact, & has a meter bridge, that 'can' be mounted where the palm rest goes (i did this & looks cool! - also means the meter isn't in the way of where the audio cables insert)
It IS an ANALOGUE desk, however it was designed for the digital era, - meaning it is very clean ... -108db Sig - noise ratio!

It ALSO has Midi muting on all the tracks AND MMC control!! - obsolutely FAB.
On each of the primary 8 mono channels, it has 8x 1/4" jacks, 8x XLR (phantom), & Phono. plus 4 STEREO channels (red sliders).
Excellent 3 band eq with mid sweep! & it has 8Bus grouping / routing

GET it if you haven't already! You'll be getting a LOT of desk for your money!

Cheers
Hyper

Doe's anyone know of any mod's that might have been done on it?

thanks

Agree, it was the bees knees 15 years ago Portishead used one there was a ad in Sound&Sound with Beth Gibbons with the GS1.
How did you managed to mount the meterbridge where the armrest would be...as the meterbridge connection lead does not strech that far ?

excellent mixer - used one for many years it has nice warm EQ . The meter bridge is movable with the ribbon strip being plugged into a different place on the side as I recall

Sorry i missed your post.. & now ages have past..
Anyway in answer to the question, once' you've removed the side panels to remove the foam palm rest, the meter bridge (IIRC) but certainly the main internal desk motherboard, has a socket on both sides for the ribbon cable.
Mounting the meter bridge into the palm rest WAS a deliberate design feature by A&H & not a happy coincidence.
Hope this helps
