boss rv-5 and dd-3 here. they work as charm with electronic instruments.
they need to be padded at -15db to cope better with mixer sends.
game over for me

Or simply get the H9. I own and love it to pieces since it was released. All the effects of the other pedals and some more. Off all the pedals and 19" effect devices I ever owned, it is the bestest.
The app is incredible good and convenient.

sending line level (mixer)
to instrument level (pedals)
and back to line level (mixer)
should be done with transformers, not a pad

You'll want to get radial reamp,
or similar re-amp device,
to get the proper sound.
Even a DBX 563x will do it.

I dont have good argument to argue, but I can assure you the sound differences between a pad and a trasformer is my last concern in a such limited, but very portable, rig

True, but if you own one H9 max with all the effects, you can buy a cheaper H9 core (300,- cheaper) and use all the effects on both of them.
