JBL 305P MkII vs JBL 308P MkII

So I'm considering the JBL 305P MkII or the JBL 308P MkII. I can get the 5" for $165 each or the 8" for $261 each. I will be using them as listening monitors for music and such and not for mixing. I realize this may be overkill but have decided I want to go this route. I have decided on getting one of these have to choose with one or the other. If anyone could share their thoughts on this It would be much appreciated.

If it really is a toss in other regards, the 8' for the extended usable clean low end.

I have the older LSR308's. I went with the 8" over the 5" as I was having problems with getting low end mixed properly. I was using Samson Resolv 6.5a monitor speakers and it would take several (sometimes many) mixes to get the low end where I wanted it. With the LSR 308's I nail the low end on the first mix most of the time. It was worth the extra for the 8's speakers.

But for just listening will it make a big difference?

You should ideally go to a store and listen/compare. Buying speakers without hearing them is not advisable.

Depends on what you are listening to and the frequency response.

Using studio-monitors for listening music is not overkill. Considering these JBL's are just $99 now a piece. And you cannot beat this price with any lousy and generally more expensive hi-fi speaker out there. My own question would be whether to buy the white/black or the black version. Do the white versions look plastic contrary to the all black/gloss finish!?
