Midas ProX

Wow! I just read the pre release on the new Midas ProX console. That is a lot of console for the price. The I/O is ridiculous. I wonder if it is enough to push Midas into the preferred rider status?

AV: Midas Introduces New PRO X Digital Console With Neutron Engine - Pro Sound Web

I believe we are on the apex of a new step in digital console development and I think we will start to see some amazing designs from several manufacturers in the next 12 months. I know A&H has something in testing in the high end that it is hinted has not been done yet. Bring it on people.

Indeed. Although it says it works with existing I/O, so at least that is not terrible.

That's great! I always wanted 125 guitars, and 536 drum mics - Along with 139 mics for vocals!
I mean, really, who on earth would use 800 channels!?

Read the page folks! It doesn't actually do 800 channels :-)

160-something by 90-something. Enough to be getting on with.

The Neutron engine looks awesome, the Surface, not so much

Absolutely. It is really the number of mix busses that is crazy powerful. Many stereo IEM feeds anyone?

As of people asking who wants this, talk to the broadcasters, I bet they will get excited. As for me, 64/24 is still more than enough.

I'm not sure broadcasters are going to get too excited about a mixing product that has no native MADI functionality, requires all audio do be SRCed for output (who is broadcasting at 96k??) and isn't compatible with a central router system (unless you do all your routing in the console...)
