Open Stage Control appears more and more like a very valuable alternative to Lemur. It can run natively on Mac and Windows with a touchscreen and thru a browser on other platforms (a Chrome-based program is mandatory).

The main developer is highly reactive.

I haven't finished to convert my main layout but it will help me simplify my connection setup as it will run on the computer running my music programs directly instead of going over an Android box.

Will be updating IOS tonight to see if the Sysex demons are gone.
So ... ? Please report back ... were the demons vanquished? I’ve still been holding back on any iOS 12 updates because of these concerns, and with my constantly growing suspicion that Lemur is being allowed to die a slow death via lack of support or updates, I’m getting pretty desperate for any information to go on here (because I still don’t like any of the Lemur alternatives that I know of).

Hi - sorry until just now i could not make the time to go back to the app...

I am VERY happy to report that after updating to last IOS, my Lemur's midi input, and the midiout command WORKS WELL AGAIN.

That's great to hear, thanks for the update! Now maybe I can stop being annoyed about iOS update prompts for a few months again.

Also I am not losing my settings when the ipad screen gets locked,
BUT for this, i have to keep the "running in background" disabled.

Dunno if this is a novelty or I just found it out - but definitely a good thing for me.

I am not updating IOS until i get a second iPad to test drive first... before this update, I was almost about going android tbh.

Huh. Looks like Lemur is no longer available for Android. From their website, clicking on the Google Play link leads to the generic Not Found page. Further searches find nothing.
Well shucks. :(
Just when I was thinking about actually trying it out. :(

Has anyone dared try Lemur with iOS 13 for iPad yet? If so, any problems?

Anybody try iOS 13? Not that it’s really necessary.

Working good for me on an ipad running iPadOS..... so far. Fingers crossed.

It will be a sad day indeed when it finally stops working.

Are you able to delete the "so far" caveat of this observation yet? I'm still holding off of iPadOS (iOS 13) out of concern about Lemur functionality, even though another app developer is strongly hinting that I should update for the sake of his app. If only Lemur was still being supported ... (sigh)

Yup, Lemur still going strong. In fact I just upgraded to a new 12.9 iPad Pro and its works fine. In general, iPadOS is way worth the upgrade IMO. None of my apps were broken or crippled because of it.

Are you doing a wired connection between Lemur and your Mac? (It’s a Mac, right?)

I’ve been holding off for some time because I utterly depend on ComposerTools Pro for Lemur - it would take forever to build what it does so elegantly.

I generally connect Lemur (ipad) to my Mac Pro (2009?) via wifi. Although I have done a wired connection.

But you have done it with the new PadOS via wired? (My apologies for being so specific but there’s very little info out there on this. Even anecdotal is useful.) I connect via wired only because it seems to be much faster and the ComposerTools Pro software that interacts with my DAW uses it via Lemur.

Of course - I just hadn’t heard anyone say they were doing it. It’s weird - thought the community for this was larger. I appreciate the clarifying. Now I’m going to look into where a backdown is possible or not. Thanks!

iOS/iPadOS 14

For those who are still using Lemur, I decided to be the guinea pig and try installing the new iOS 14 and iPadOS 14. No problems observed with Lemur afterwards, including using both wired and wireless connections to MacOS High Sierra, and sending/receiving OSC data as well as sending MIDI data.

Two small observations that may be helpful to someone:

1) After updating iPadOS, High Sierra needed to download and install a small update, and then needed to be rebooted (even though it didn’t prompt me to do so), before the wired connection to the iPad would work.

2) I was prompted by iPadOS to grant Lemur access to scan my network connections, and I’m guessing that if I’d declined, Lemur wouldn’t have worked.

I'm thinking about getting a new iPad to run Lemur (for use with Unreal Engine / nDislay), but judging from this thread, could be a bit risky.......their (Liine) website is a bit janky and their Windows software is only listed as being up to Windows 8 compatible....and their forum has almost no recent posts... seems to have all the hallmarks of a app whose developer has kinda lost interest.

Anyone know if this app is actively being developed or is in the death throws?

I registered last month and started to use iPad 2020 Pro with Lemur. Everything works smooth on Windows 10 as well. What you have to do for registration: you might not get the activation link, just hit Forgot password button and you will get in.

Based upon this video (at about time 1:25:00), there’s a suggestion that a new Lemur update is currently in beta testing. I sure hope so!

.
Has anyone tried Lemur on the latest iPadOS 15.1? I am still running version 13. I see that many successfully run Lemur on version 14 but at this point I am looking to upgrade to 15.

So asking here what's the experience before I do something silly.

I am running Lemur wireless with no problems at all. So I am interested in wireless connection on v15.1

I'm on 15.1 now, iPad Pro 12.9", so far it seems to work fine. It still crashes when I'm doing some scripting and press the apostrophe key ('), but it's always been like that.

Here's hoping for more word on that Lemur update that's in beta!

At this point I’m sorry to say that I think that beta report was false. Don’t know why someone would do that, but there’s been nothing else to indicate an update is actually in the works, and it has been like a year now. All of my Macs are still stuck on High Sierra because of concerns about breaking the Lemur Editor at this point. It’s really frustrating.

Exclamation Updated!?!?

The iOS App Store apparently has a Lemur update today … and a real one, not just some app metadata. It purports to fix bugs and to introduce a custom bitmaps feature. I haven’t dared try it out yet, in case there are issues, but I’m VERY interested. I mean, how many years has it been?
