I like NS-10's but I'm looking to switch it up with something new. I'm thinking about the Pelonis 42's. Anyone with opinions on using these with the Twins? Or any other recommendations?
The Pelonis 42's are very midrange detailed and focused, if space is a concern and that's what you want to hear, done.

The PSI A17M is a more full range monitor with an analytical quality to it that is incredible. Very smooth "I can sit in front of these all day" type of speaker, and maybe the first speaker we ever put up and wondered where the crossover was (you don't hear it). Just silly how defined they are.

Not just me then. Can't spot the crossover on my 21's either. Bliss.

It's a PSI thing in general, yes we heard the same (lack of heard...) with the A21M.

+1 on the Pelonis 42's. I have the JBL 4328's (with JBL sub) and Opals (with no sub), and the Pelonis sit very nicely in the space between a full range nearfield and my TV speakers, which for are the ultimate test (I write for TV).

I've owned both Auratones and Avantones, and eventually sold both, because IMHO, even crappy home and car systems sound better than Avantones these days, and so they are not super-useful for me. I guess if I was still making records, the Avantones might have stayed around.

If I had to describe the sound of the Pelonis 42's (no sub), I would say they sound like a cross between the Avantones and NS-10's. Just one man's opinion, but I have found them very useful. They are not "grot boxes", but quite full range either, which is perfect for my needs. As always, YMMV.

Without wishing to derail... How do you patch the TV speakers in?
I also write for TV, and you're right... That is the ultimate test...!

I'm also on the quest for some small speakers too...
Unfortunately as far as I can see there's no way to demo Pelonis in the UK.

I would recommend the Neumann KH120s. Very flat and detailed. I am actually thinking of purchasing the Twins to go along with them.

BTW, where's Hans? Those PSI graphs must have been good.

I am getting fantastic results with the Equator D5's sitting on IsoAcoustic Stands!

Sadly, the D5's are getting used way more than my Focal Solo's.
