Same here, except I don't work past 12 hours.

I have been booked for 6 weeks and the client decides to take a day off they still pay me my rate because they booked me.

Im generally not into "oh we only need like 2 hours ´cause we just need simple guitar overdubs"...you know the game - in the end you sit there for the whole day (and night).

So i have my fixed day rate that i charge and I'm there for my customers as long as I'm needed, i try to avoid sessions past 12 hours if it is going to be a project for more then say 2 or 3 days - BUT - in the end I'm really looking to make my customers feel good and comfortable. If it takes a good long 16 hours day to do so...ok.

In general since I own an SSL, I go anywhere from $$$to$$$ a day. Some days I'll go 12 hours but i find past 10 hours I'm distracted and start making mistakes. I'll give a 50% discount to artists that I KNOW are going to get a deal(or taking an educated guess.) In that case we sign an AP agreement so I can recoup after they get their deal. OBVIOUSLY there's a risk involved in this but hey, if the guys are broke, they can get the pro sessions they need and I can prove once again my production skills work in the real world. It's all about survival and perseverance in 2012!
