2Buss compression SSL G384 & Avalon 747sp

Since the attack is so slow on the 747, I hear some people put it after the SSL FX G384, boost a little hights, sweeten, etc.

Others, may/would use it to side chain into the G384 and take out lows so the compression doesn't get hit by all the low end.

Any recommendations on one over the other or neither? Just keep the 747 out?

I had both and used the 384 into 747 quite happily on the mix. I sold the 747 to try some other stuff, but quite miss it.

The 747's built in sidechain would help dial in certain flavors.

Using it for sidechain seems a bit of overkill.

Same thing I feel about the 737... New price is a bit too much (payin' for the shiny metal), but used they can be quite servicable.

Just my opinion...
