I use one mkh 40 in the focus of a parabola 60cm diameter and use the Apogee mini mp with tow chanels with possible 75db gain.
I want to splitt the mic signal to record in the two chanels the same mono signal without significant losses in qualtiy.
I am going to use my radial engineering js 2 microphone splitter with jensen transformers.
Can I send the two phantom power to the mic or only one?
Is the Radial splitter protected against two phantom powers?
Am I going to loose some quality in the recordings it seems in the radial splitter one signal from the microphone passe trough the transformer the other is direct wich is best quality?
Is there any advantage or is it possible to use a simple Y cable?
It is for critical listening the songs of some elusive birds and I want to record at the same time with the same gain and sometimes with diferent gain in each chanel in the pré.

There can be a difference between the direct sound and the transformer but the Jensen transformers are extremely good. However since you are using the split for listening to the birdsong , then use the direct signal for recording and monitor off of the transformer output.
