The chairs are about ten times more expensive than the nearfields. grggt

I've gone with pale blue with one tone darker trim in my live room and "air lock." My control room and booths are a pale green with one tone darker trim. The control room has sage drapery. There is tract lighting along the center of the CR. I plan to only use it when I'm installing new gear and cleaning. I'm going to have several lamps to create the mood. I'm getting a bunch of lamps for the live room and booths as well.

I am a lighting NUT.. my place is designed that I can never look ANYWHERE (including up) and have a bulb glareing directly at me.

I'm a lighting nut as well. When I built my studio complex, I had them put in faders on every set of lights in every room. Every client has to fiddle with it before they start.... kind of annoying but hey, they pay the bills so.... great!

Here is a pic of my small room.We chose dark orange material to warm the room up and make it inviting.
I was worried that it was going to be too dramatic but it has worked very well and clients are very comfy in the room even though it is so small. The seating which you cant see is a dark red mock suede (same as the ceiling colour).

I think room colour and lighting plays a major importance in how you feel when you work ,it also makes a big difference to the atmosphere for clients.

cheers

my walls are pure white, nothing mixed into the white, 100% pure white.

That way i can project any color to it, and it reflects.
For me the most importand factor is, that i have a lot of glass,
where i can see thru to the garden, with plants and trees.
It is very relaxing to focus my eyes to the far horizont from
time to time.

OT: Did you know, that glass has a huge damping factor.
A friend of mine has a studio where all is glass, except the floor,
the contemporary type of glass, which is very flexible.
He doesn't need no damping or any other type of acoustic helpers.

Does anyone know of a way I can swop that studio for my studio? I love my studio, but does changing it to those colours mean I get the size and equipment too. heh

Raisin torte with pewter accents.

Also, cherry wood strips.

For fabric, check out the fine folks at Guilford of Maine

I agree! The main thing to remember is to use complex colors rather than simple ones. this could mean grey versions of colors, mud and/or cave colors....

I too am trying to figure out a color scheme. I have to say that I don't like the wood everywhere look. I don't know why but all that wood makes me feel like I'm in a ski lodge or something. "where's my hot chocolate?" I know that look is pretty much standard in "real" studios but I just don't dig it. "my 2 cents"

I went with a Pewter fabric. Building panels this week. The floors are pecan wood and the ceiling is wood too. I didn't want anything overly colorful, and the designer who's helping me doesn't like colors too dark.

FWIW I would choose something neutral and earth toned and then accent it with lighting, edging and so on.

In ours we chose a combination of chocolate brown (which matches just about everything) and bluegray and then we threw in some orangy reddish accenting in places. Looks pretty killer to me. I was also thinking that a subtle tweed would be awesome in places too (think amp grillcloth/old school hifi speaker vibe) but it was hard to find the right one so we skipped it. But if I ever build another room that's what I'll go for- wood & orangy brown tweed & chocolate brown.

And IMHO, whatever you do, stay away from purple!

I like dark, rich colors. Deep red's, purples...not much in the way of blue.

the lighting is from ikea (cool spaceship saucer thingy's)

i never thought red and purple would go together but it is really lush

the pics don't really do it justice
