TFPRO P10

Has anyone got any experience with this unit, or any of the other "high end" TFPRO units?

P10 - very nice sound, very useful unit in general.

P38 - excellent compressor, even on higher price it would still be one of better choices in general (well, Pendulums and costlier compressors might do particular jobs better or offer some additional functionality), but on given price it's must have as sound is high-end definitely (in Europe I saw it couple of times at 1400 $)

P9 - interesting EQ, not for all applications, should be used carefully (2-4 dbs), again it can hold its own against much costlier competition, although it would not be my nr.1 choice for mix buss (if on small budget, definitely yes).

TFPro is still widely not recognized as top pro level or high-end, but at least P10 and P38 can be added without hesitation to any demanding studio setup.

i'm bumping this thread.

i'm about to buy one of these from RMC in TN, any red flags i should be aware of?

the P38 stereo compressor (same comp + soft limit as the P10, but no dual mono) was reviewed in the Jan/Feb '06 Tape Op.

i'll get it if only to give the P10 an accurate personal review and send it back less the restock fee. But if it wails, i'll keep it. That is unless someone has used it and can say its not even worth picking up to review?

anyone?

I love the P38 compressor. I also have the CV Phoenix (lots more $$$) But apples and oranges. The P38 does things the Phoenix cannot do and visa versa.
I think the P38 is a great clean compressor with some tricks up its sleeve. Great on vocals and 2-buss.

I got mine from RMC and they were great.
Regards,
AB

no worries,
i got a good discount on a factory demo unit, and it seems the only issue was fingerprints on the top and bottom (casing) black paint, perhaps handled before that part of the paint was dry. They didnt feel right selling it at full price.
and you can't see that junk in a rack anyway

Love the P-38... Use it on my BV Buss sometimes, on a pair of Auxes for a drum smash, on the 2-buss... quite verstatile and uncolored, but it can rip sh*t up!

The P38's been living on my 2 buss for awhile now....big and clean sounding and the 4 model options give quite a bit of variety of that big and clean...

Have also used it on the drum buss and loved it there too..!!

Extremely versatile box...!

I bought P 38 sometime ago and have to second all those very good opinions.
Sounds big and very musical. Those 4 options make it versitile too.

Does the P10 add colour to the sound, as it's advertised to 'get that colour back into music'?

Because it seems that their P38 compressor is clean sounding, according to comments here!

Thanks.

I find it clean, but not boring or dry. Kind of very good resolution with touch of transformer iron. For colour there are many other options, Manley among them.
But is it coulour what yee really need?
