Another vote for Lavry. But they're not on the list.

I would add two more personally...UA 2192 (my all time favorite) and the Lynx Auroras (right near the top as well).

Sorry...........I wasn't thinking.

That's the old name, though. I believe his company now is Lavry Engineering. So, that is why some of us are confooosed.

Anyway, I got it.

Looks to me like a lot of people picking the converter they own, rather than the most accurate converter. There aren't a lot of people qualified to even make a credible choice on the topic with the various choices. How many people here have heard all of these converters... Some of which aren't even in production any more.

The fact that Apogee & Pro Tools HD (192) are in the top 3 and Euphonix is tied for last is very telling. Apogee's are good sounding converters, but most people would agree they have a color to them. Euphonix makes very high quality and under-rated converters which are very accurate.

It looks like only the first 10 or so posts were from 2002, though. We have 95 votes as of right now, and yesterday there was less than half that. The order has changed a little bit, too.

I've had a chance to use most of the converters on the list.

The EMM Labs win by a long shot for me, both pcm and DSD.

The Lavry Gold 122 is a close second by only a baby hair.

For pcm DAC, the dCS 955 is a close second, again by a baby hair.

No Radar
No Lynx
No Universal Audio
No Burl (or something like that)

Who would say that converter's list is so biiig.

But in general nothing changed too much in converter department for last 5 years, what is kind of surprise.

In a way he did put Lavry, but he put DB Technologies instead which is the name Lavry used to go under.

Should of put Lavry up there though otherwise the pole resullt will be less revealing, kind of like when Lavry converters arn't being used.

I haven't tried everything on the list, but the Euphonix converters are the best I've heard.

Has anybody heard the SSL converters? If so, what did you think?

I've owned an EMM a/d for a few years and can't seem to get around snatting.

I record into Protools. At first I thought maybe it was because of slaving to word clock.
So my last session I ran a second protools rig with the Meitner on internal sync and running free, unlocked recording LTC on ana audio track so I could spot it later. That all worked fine, but , even with it running on it's internal clock, it was snatting.
I've had it back to Meitner twice and they insist there is nothing wrong with the unit. The only thing I can figure is it just doesn't like protools.
It's become a very expensive rack blank since I haven't been able to use it.
Any other Meitner users experience anything like this?
Thanks,
Alan
