Whayt is the difference between the
DBX RM160 and the DBX VCA 160
Which is better?

The first DBX 160 units were half rack stand alone boxes. You could link 2 of these units and mount them in a 19 inch rack using the rack mount kit which was called "RM (something)".
The point being that "RM 160" means 2 rack mounted 160 units.
The "VCA" in a compressor's description means that the circuit uses VCA's to arrive at compression. The 160 does indeed use a custom built VCA built by the late great David Blackmer.
The DBX 160 thing is a bit complicated because it's still being manufactured but with a different design.
I like them all, but love the original 160 which usually gets referred to as 160 VU because it has a VU meter... the later models use LED meters.
