Well, I'm picky about verb, and have 2 or 3 plugs I turn to, depending on what the material is, but if I only had to choose one, that would have to be Nomad Factory's "BlueVerb". That's my all time favorite. And the rack mount Rev 7.

I have an Audicon "The Plate" stereo plate from the 70s or 80s. I have clients who request I print it so they can use it to mix at home or wherever. I've used an EMT 140, and while "The Plate" doesn't sound the same, its own sound is pretty cool.

Many great reverbs there! I used to love the Klark Teknik DN-780 for Snare. It was less splashy that anything else with transients and had some good sounds. Everyone deserves an EMT 250 just because it is do darn cool looking... Move over Swanson, I'm driving!

PCM-80
Ensonic DP-4

And when I edit the CD on computer, the "reverb-Delay" of my Samplitude MS 14 adds a certain magix (pun intended...) to it all

I only use Altiverb, and I see no reason to use anything else, since it's got anything you could ever want. Great plugin!

How does the Ensoniq stand up to the others on your list?

Thanks!

The Ensoniq DP Pro has lush, thick sound. I like the chambers, rooms, and the other effects (chorus, flange, delay, etc). The only thing I am really not pleased with, are the plates; they are too noticeable in the mix. I prefer plate verbs to be less visible, and I really never like using plate verbs until I got the PCM-81. Having said that, I love the plates on the PCM-81, and I honestly have not tried many of its other effects in my mixes as it has been dedicated to vocals. Its plates are there but stay out of the way.

I wanted to get another effects unit for plates so that I could use the PCM for other duties, so I got the SDR. I had an SDR many years ago, but got rid f it because the DP Pro ran it over for most if not all jobs. Now that I am learning how to use plates better, I though I would give that unit another shot. Just as it was before, the SDR is a bit too intrusive with its sound, and nowhere near as warm sounding as ANY of my other effects. It is definitely not what I was hoping for on vocals, although if I want that 80’s sound, I will keep this unit in mind. I do need to test it more for drum/percussion duties; it just might have a job there.

Because of the big rave over the REV2496 and the clearance price at MF, I though I would give it a shot. I am extremely happy about this unit. It sits between the Ensoniq’s warmth and Lexicon’s ability to stay out of the way. All three of these units complement each other quite well, and I would not want to do without any of them.

Has, or would, anyone try to get Breverb to sound as close as possible to the Bricasti halls or chambers? And if not, why?

That would take a hell of a computer to do. Casey would know if it could be run.

Soft spot here for the Ursa Major Space Station, the 2004 handheld version. Never owned it, but loved the sound.

For real, Lexicon MXP-1 (the dark plate) and my Peavey Valverb (for splashy spring).

For virtual, HaloVerb (wipes out a 2d card at 24/96, mind) and Altiverb.

Always prefer the real to the virtual, FWIW.

zerotronics coolsprings le.

combined with a nice pre and eq there are an infinite variety of sweet sounds to be had out of it. i like the simplicity of not having menus to wade through. it sounds good. it is good.

if i had the time and money i'd hunt down an emt plate and a bricasti m7.

Yeah, well, of course it's not the best sounding reverb there is, but at the price of Altiverb? - yeah. It is.

Vocals: Lex 200 and 224, EMT 140, 240, 245 and 250
Back Vocals: Ursa Major Space Station, PCM 70 or RVerb
Drums: 480L, RVerb
Guitars: Ursa Major Space Station or PCM 70
Percussion: PCM 70, Lex 300
Strings: EMT 140/240
Want it dirty? Roland DEP-5
Synths: Ursa Major Space Station, EMT 140 or PCM 70
Hammond: Watkins Copicat and EMT 140

I have my own IR's of all of the above that I use without hesitation in Space Designer or IR1 when physical units are not available (with exception of the wonderful IR's by Acousticas which, I in my opinion, are absolutely brilliant).

But I have no problem doing a complete mix with the best reverb of all times alone:
My beloved Ursa Major Space Station SST-282 (or the IR's).

See what the my Ursa Major 8x32 and Stargate 323 will do...
I see a huuuuuge IR recording session coming up...*sigh*

am very tempted to buy a outboard verb

currently using ir1, uad plate 140.

seems like pcm96 or a m7 would be a choice.

maybe i could get a chance to find a used 480L....

what difference would it be ?
