Samplitude Variverb pro (HQ algos) for its capacity to supplement the reverb already present in classical recordings.

Lexicon PCM96
TC M3000

Plugs:
Digidesign Reverb One (Nice small rooms!)
Overloud BREVERB (When I want the reverb to be a "part" of the sound, like for synth pads)

My Zerotronics spring verb is always the first into the mix.

Initially I thought it might be because there's nothing to play with or select when you add it into the equation it was so easy. But after consciously deciding to start with my Lexicon instead a few times I kept missing something that the springs were adding to the depth.

I bought the shortest decay time, but now I'm seriously considering getting another unit with the medium decay.

what does this mean? You seem to reach for VSS3 plug more or that you have it and still use it? ...I'm considering the 6000 powercore just to hear it.. thank you

ive developed a technique which is extraordinary and will never be released to the masses. it involves anything you can think of in regards to bringing your studio to any nearby tunnel for reverb applications sucessfully.. im sorry.

Why is it my "go-to" reverb?

Because it is the only reverb that I have.

(except for the Quadraverb that has been in the closet for years)

Because I am incredibly lazy I have various units permanently patched in and mainly leave them on the same settings, so I know for example AUX 1 and 2 is the 480 on a certain sound.

Its a combination of the following:

480L
140 Plate
224
224XL
PCM70 x 2
PCM60
H8000
H3000
M7 x 4
RMX16

I have never used a plugin

I miss my reverb 4000.. i don't feel your lacking anywhere. That is a great box.
Price is great too.. "Control software" Even for PC... I love vss4.. I'd like to have that Quadraverb Too.. I vaguely remember what that unit sounded like. I had one in my guitar rack in the early ninety's then they ruined it with the Quadraverb plus.
Remember that Gawd Awful distortion...

I've was in transition for a while in a temp space before moving into my new studio, so I didn't have any of my hardware verbs set up. Mixed half an album with just the plugs =Altiverb and a few others. Convinced myself it sounded fine.

Moved into my space and put up one of the songs I'd been working on and this time went for my Lex 480L. I very quickly remembered what a good verb can do for a mix. One of the producers asked me how I get such a good reverb sound on the vocal, lol.

Also like the PCM60 and Sony R7 for secondary duties.

Live chambers can be killer too. Set up a pair of U67's and a monitor on the 4th floor landing in my last facility and after hours I would print reverbs for vox, percussion, strings etc. When I wanted that particular sound, not even the 480 could do it like the real thing. Of course a chamber is a bit of a one trick pony, but a great trick when you need it.
