Dual Mic Pre + 2 channel AD/DA

Hello, First post on GS for me...

So I have been wanting to upgrade a while to something that will last me a long time (a few years or so)

I have been thinking about buying a 2 channel Mic Pre and 2 channel AD/DA for around $3000, no more.

As of right now I am thinking about the API A2D and the benchmark DAC1

Is it worth it for me to get a rosetta 200 for all the conversion or is it fine to use API for AD, and the benchmark for DA?

Any other suggestions would be great...
maybe different mic pre's?

Thanks

Give more information about what you will be doing...rock, classical, rap. Live recording, studio...etc. It will make a huge difference on what people recommend.

I do mostly rock with male vocals but I am also getting some RnB clients lately (both male and female vocals). I will be using this at my little home setup. I also track a lot of guitars (acoustic and electric)

The API A2 has a good set of AD converters. I think it is on par with the Rosetta. Either a Benchmark or a Lavry DA will work just dandy.

I think the API pres are very versitile BTW. You can also use other units with the A2 because it has a loop which allows for an insert in front of the AD.

Yeah, the Lavry is nice too, but that's a smart upgrade that will do wonders for your recordings, good luck with it.

I agree... for $3000, I would get the A2D and the DA10. I actually know quite a few people with that exact combo, and it's a great bang for buck 2 channel setup.
