Question about mixing to Masterlink 24 or 16 bit

Hi,
Curious if it's better to mix to Masterlink at 24 bit, then dither down to Red Book 16 bit (within the ML) for a CD replication master, or to just mix at 16 bit.

I am using a HEDD for A/D.

I'm assuming mixing at 16 bit, less steps and number crunching?

Thanks.
Evan
