[SSL XRack] Multiple X-rack Connection

Hi, (Calling for Jimmy at SSL or anyone who have more than 2 Xrack unit)

Hi,
I just bought a 2nd X-Rack, planning to put 4, 8 + Master (already install a GComp)
My question is: how to connect 2 Xrack together for 1 Midi recall sysex?
Ok, I read the manual, not much info in there, I just know that the 2nd unit has to set address to A2, connect sync cable TR LINK OUT (1st Unit) to TR LINK IN (2nd unit)...
If the 2 succesful connect,do I have to output sysex from both unit or just 1, and
If I select preset number from unit #1... Unit #2 will support to response (like the preset number will follow or something like it)
I love SSL X-Rack format but I blame them for providing such a lousy manual :(
Please help! a STEP by STEP instruction is great
Regards
Sonny

Good question!

IIRC, the 9-pin link is only for using an AWS or Matrix to store the TR. I think each X-Rack needs to send it's own TR individually.

I'll check with the designer when I'm back min the office on Monday.

Hi Jimmy
According to the manual, Yes, The 9 pin not only support AWS900, it's support for 2-3 Xrack units chain together too. So I understand the concept but the manual does not say how to set up (other than the addressing) and how the system will behave when connect together...
Anyone having more than 1 Xrack please have your say!
Yes Jimmy, an official word about this would be great too.
Thanks
Sonny

OK - the 9-pin is only to chain units into an AWS or Matrix. To do this you need to give each rack and "address" i.e. 1,2,3 and then daisy chain the 9 pin from the desk, into the first rack, out of the first into the second, etc

Do take sysex/midi dumps for multiple X-Racks you need a midi in and out from an interface for each X-Rack and dump to different midi channels. It is not possible to chain the sysex over multiple units.
