Phoenix DRS-2 preamp?

Anybody besides me checking this unit out? Seems to be very smooth and large sounding, and makes my hitherto despised TLM-103 sound like the ****. I'm liking it a lot on vocals and had a successful tenor sax session with it today--it evened out a scratchy horn.

I haven't yet - is this one also based on an older English design (there are a lot of them out there this month, aren't there?), or is it Geoff's own?

C) None of the above... it's a unique designa from Phoenix Audio International's "UK division"... it has a transformerless input, fully "class A", and makes a seriously lovely complement to the MP-2NV...

Some of the features are Mic/Di switching, with a -20db pad and 'earth lift' Phantom power, and a "hi-pass" filter.

The input stage is in 5 db steps for 30 to 70 db of gain, the output trim pot is continuously variable.

How does the MP-2NV complement the DRS-2? More crunch? Man, that Phoenix thing is creamy. And what the hell does DRS-2 mean?

They work very nicely together, though they are different tones. I don't know how to describe it much better than they go together like raspberries and chocolate...

Plus it has XLR mic inputs on the FRONT of unit as well as the back! I've never seen that before. Very cool.

Price is right too (curtain no. 3, please).

The API 511 has a mic input on the front. But it really has no back...
