Taylor guitars and Rupert Neve?!?!

Bob Taylor with Rupert Neve redesign the Acoustic Pickup & Preamp system for 2003 Taylor Acoustic Electrics.

Taylor Expression System Story

Anyone heard this yet?

Is it a big deal?

I haven't played one yet, but if what their suggesting is true, it's going to be a big deal. What I've heard from unaffiliated people who have tried it is that it's pretty damn great but doesn't totally satisfy the hype. But it should make playing live a lot more enjoyable.

Big dissapointment. The guitar sounds completely unbalanced. The sound is a lot of natural but the second string sounds 40% louder than the others.

I nominate all piezo pickups as the new spokeman for Afflack.

They all quack like a duck. Try a B-Band.

No pickup can save that thin, ice pick computer made box.

While we're at it, I'll be glad to add to that. And a B-Band may save the day, yep... but damn, guitars ain't made to be heard from under the bridge (unless you're under a bridge and John Mooney plays on it, that is).

Taylors have two pickups,, one under the bridge and one near the soundhole, and you can blend the two.

Didn't knock me out. I do like Schertlers. There have been some newer designs promoted around, but I haven't heard them. I'm also not enamored of the pickup that came in my Santa Cruz (and now they offer Schertler...), but I pretty much only use them for tuning anyway... and I just bought a Peterson StroboClip, so I might not use them at all.

Live? I think to much is made of the acoustic guitar sound in club environments. I take a Washburn, a Roland Cube to monitor myself and a DI for the PA. Given all the other noise in a club, it is close enough for me.

That name will sell a lot of guitars, though.
