Where to find new old stock tubes?

I need a GE, or Telefunken, or Mullard new old stock 6072a or 12ax7 or 12at7 for a tube mic. Can anyone tell me where to go?

Ianneve,
I've had good luck with http://www.thetubestore.com. The prices seemed reasonable to me, and quick service . TommyD

People should beware that there is a huge market in counterfeit NOS tubes.

I bought one today from audiotubes.com, hope it's great? I normaly sing through a Lawson L 251 which is very very good but I also have this new Cascade chinese mic that sound amazing for the money and Mike at www.bayviewproaudio.com who distributes them told me to get a new old stock tube for it and it will sound 40% better. Now, if this mic sounds 40% better,, I would put it up against almost ANYTHING! We will see? Well,, maybe not a great vintage 251 or c12? LOL...... I have had the pleasure. On my 2nd cd for RCA I did a mic shoot out at Room with a view studio's in NYC with 5 C12's and 4 251's. OR was it 6 and 5? Don't remember? It was amazing. It came down to 2 251's and there was a fairly obvious winner. Amazing vocal sound on that record. Except for the fast that we cut it on the mitsubishi 880 machine. Still great sounding though. :>) My first record I cut on the 251 at music Grinder in hollywood. Great vocal sound as well. Spoiled me...... Still trying to match it. I'm getting there. The Studio traps help a lot. And the UA 2-610 is cool too.

Are you warning us about a retaile mentioned, or just in general?

( I am aparently in some sort of conspiracy-type mood....)

In general.

The high-end audiophile crowd will pay a fortune for NOS tubes. Counterfeit boxes are readily available and it's pretty easy to remove the markings on the outside of a tube and substitute anything you want. This means discarded noisy tubes you pick up for the cost of shipping can get cleaned up, dressed up and sold for $20 to several hundred dollars to the unsuspecting. It's really really important to know who you are buying from.
