I think the best you can hope for is "something with a flavour of, or in the direction of" as opposed to actually emulating these sounds.
To be fair the BLUE B0 is edge terminated so in that respect it is batting on the right team to get the 251 flavour.

To me, as I said, the B6 being centre tapped and the Bottle using the EF86 makes the whole shabang a U67 on steriods, where BLUE get a C12 reference from is truly a mystery.

The Bottle is a very modern mic and I think that's it's stength and to be commended, as fantastic as my Wunder CM7 is, it is simply a clone, so I respect BLUE for pushing forward mic desgn and voicing their capsules to have a modern vibe.

I didn't know the B0 was edge terminated. That is news to me. I had the "lollipop" they made to screw on a 451 (or C28) and was miffed that it was centre terminated when it was clearly hinted that it was a CK12 homage.

I'm not bashing the mic nor the capsules at all. Just the marketing hype.

I love the Blue Cactus mic which has a wonderful character with less highs. Anyone ever compare it to the Botttle with the B7 capsule? The original Cactus was more woolly than the current version. I prefer the newer ones. The original had too much of a sock sound over the mic.

This beautiful young lady with a great voice shows off the newer version of the Cactus quite well. https://youtu.be/gsLTL1nNRNA

A piece of advice, if you're recording on tape, I think the B6 is great for lead vox. If you're recording digitally, it MIGHT have a bit too much sibilance, depending on the singer. In that case, try a windscreen. I still like the B6 better than the B7 and B0 for lead vox. The B0 is very hyped, IMO. The B7 is a bit too tame for my applications.

That was my issue with the Bottle on vocals, in as much as I found the caps to be a bit extreme, either the B6 was too etched and edgy, the B0 was way too bright and hyped or the B7 was almost wooly.

Those extremes did on occasion lend themselves to a nice modern upfront pop vocal, but I always found myself reaching for my Wunder CM7 when I just wanted a great classic vocal sound.

For me the B6 cap on the BLUE KIWI was a better smoother implementation of that cap. I really regret selling my KIWI - in retrospect it was a fantastic multi pattern mic, which I personally preferred on vocals to the Bottle.

Interesting. Were you recording digitally, then? What preamp?

My current signal flow for vox is:

Blue Bottle (B6 cap) > Daking IV preamp > Otari MTR-90III

Loving mine with B0, B1, B6, B7. The B7 sounds great as a mono room mic on drums here.
