API 1608 Owners?

Hello first time posting on Gear Space so hopefully some of you have insight that most did not have, experience wise on the Gear Page regarding the 1608. I’m considering one for my studio in Montana so if you own one or have any experience working on it. please give me your thoughts. Most importantly if you have any recordings done on the 1608 I’d love to hear them. Thanks.

I will just say I love API
great company great bunch of folks always helpful and amazing gear at least everything I have ever had my hands on and I own a few things API.

Yes great stuff!! I own a few of their pieces and they definitely take my sound to another level. I’m pretty much wanting to go full API with the exception of a 1073 for vocals and a few other outboard pieces of gear.

Not sure what’s all in the 1608 but I have 2 TCSii that I record everything through. Love the sounds i get. The compressor is maybe not the easiest to dial in, like when I’m tracking it sounds heavy handed but on playback it sounds great even though it’s smashing everything cause I’m super amateur. Still, all the tracks stack really well and create a cohesive sound I can only describe as “pedigree”.

And he could buy any console that he wanted. Even the actual Beatles console from Abbey road. But they have an API at the big Barn recording studio (live they use RND remote preamps).
