I'd stick with the KH310 but add 2 subs and cross them over around 125hz using a MiniDSP SHD. With some room tuning from the SHD, the 310 open up nicely and present a lot of usable detail. Still they sound a bit artificially "rigid" in the mids and highs.

I used this exact setup before I moved to ProAc SM100 monitors. The mids and highs opened up beautifully on the ProAc. It's like an open window to the audio now with all the benefits of the 310.

The reason I suggest using subs is not to get more low end extension, but to fix the floor/console reflection null. Do some research and testing. Have fun!
