SHURE A15AS attenuator:could this degrade a signal?

is it recommended to use in the case of very hot signals, does it affect anything in the microphones response?

All it does is drop the level... no studio should be without at least a half a dozen of these little puppies.

Question in regards to this:

How do you guys incorporate them into your setups?

In other words:

Lets say you have a pre amp hooked up to a tt patchbay do you patch it in there with a tt to xlr into the attenuator the xlr to tt into the patchbay?

Any suggestions?
