+ - 20 volt op amp replacement for LF 356???

Looking for nice sounding drop in replacement op amp for LF 356. Needs to be able to handle + and - 20 volts. Any one have suggestions?? I am looking for something nicer sounding then the old tl 081 etc.

"Drop in"? Probably not without extra parts, unless it's very well designed.
The BB OPA604 fet opamp will do + - 24 volts, but not for too long. The rest are bipolars.

Its the 356 inside an ADM 780 mic pre. It adds another 20db of gain - its right after the AD-202 (ADM component op-amp) Thinking of just bypassing the 356.
Im using these on loud sources so I dont really need all the gain that these pre's offer.

I would stick to the LF356.

output distortion is no issue due to the following Q1 and Q2.
Input distortion is low, cause the op amp sees the low impedance
of the 202 Module or the relatively low resistance of the feedback network.
So in this case the Opamp has mainly to be fast. And the LF356 ist pretty fast.

It can be , that you don't need C8, 27pF with another Opamp with
more phase margin. (Or the other way round) check stability with a square wave and load if you decide to change the amp.
