Studer A80 erase problem

Hi

My studer A 80 R is not erasing 100 % , i can always hear previous material on the beginnings and endings of the songs . Its not loud but its there . Its like 95 % is erased . Any Ideas ?

My second question is is there a "manual" or something like that on how to recap a Studer and/or make any modifications to bring this lovely machine to even higher level of performance ?

Thanks

Is the problem on all tracks? Check if even tracks or odd tracks only, as this would indicate a wrap problem on the erase head. Otherwise, check erase current levels. Some older machines were made prior to the dawn of high mol tapes, with higher retentivity, and so must have the erase current levels adjusted upward from the book values.
