Reccomendations for adding phantom power to Ampex 351 pre?

I'm kind of wanting to use some condensors w/ this Amprex 351 pre I picked up.
What do you guys w/ 351's do?

Is it worth trying to modify, or should I just look into one of those cheapo phantom power boxes?

There really isn't an easy way to obtain 48VDC from any of the available power rails inside a 351. An external supply of some sort would be your best bet. I've seen "in line" supplies in various catalogs.

SHAMELESS SALES PLUG: I have a few Power-One open frame linear supply modules I bought during a "close out". 48VDC @ 0.5 A, new in factory packing. One module can supply at LEAST 36 mics under worst-case conditions...IE, pretty much a whole studio's worth.

$25 + S&H. You mount module into a metal box, and provide power cord and fuse.
