ADR F601-RS Knob removal

Need to work on/replace a pot on this unit and having a problem pulling the knob. The knob has a removable cap and underneath it it looks like a round nut with a flathead screwdriver slot that is screwed onto a small diameter pot shaft. I've seen the same thing on a DBX 160X that was missing some knob caps. Using a couple small flathead screwdrivers on each side of the shaft didn't budge it.

First, is this type of pot/knob arrangement a screw on nut to begin with and not some type of compression nut?

I'm guessing that if it's a screw nut, filing the center out of a small flathead screwdriver would be the best tool to use?

That's a "collet" knob. This is the tool I use, I think I bought it from SSL many moons ago. But as you said, you can make a tool from a flat blade screwdriver. In a pinch, a needle nose plier will usually work, too.
