I’ve acquired a Otari MX70 with a slowdown issue upon loading tape. I’ve met with the local tech and the machine spent weeks at his trying to isolate the problem. We’ve replaced two boards and the motor. Although these were beneficial replacements being in better condition than the original, It’s still producing the slowdown issue. Our next step is to find a replacement board PB-48LA. Any comments or feedback would be greatly appreciated as I’m not sure where to go at this point with the machine and using my Tascam 38 to try and keep up with work. Thanks.

Slowdown how? Does the capstan actually slow down? Are tensions correct? Are you using old tape?

Last time I checked, it started at a certain speed and progressively slows down and goes back in and out. Brand new tape and all tensions were fine. Power supply checked out fine according to tech. Strange right?? We replaced Capstan driver board along with the capstan control (if my memory serves correct).PB-48K is the name.
Kind of a stretch but wondering if anyone here has spare MX70 parts?
