Question Repairing Noisy LCD Screen on Roland A-80

I've a Roland A-80 whose screen whines when switched on.

Have found replacement screen available, these are either a rectangle of plastic with two wires coming out (£16), or something more expensive that's been 'doctored' ready for insertion into the keyboard (£70).

Can anyone advise? - Would it just be the 'backlight' flat rectangle that needs replacing here, or is there more to than that?

Thanks for any advice.

Hello filmcomposer,

If you can see information on the screen, but it is not illuminated, then you just require the backlight.

As for the whine, this is usually due to the capacitors that help drive the display, replacing these should solve the noise issue.

I hope this helps.
