b/ VVV. Grainy (in a nice way) but mostly WAY too chorused. You probably used the 70's mode I would say. It's actually very unpleasant, because it creates a layer of delayed motion to the drums, like an annoying wave. The reverb isn't faulty, I've it and love it, but not used like that.

c/ R2. Perfect blending, nice tail, right amount of diffusion and modulation. Just love it.

Might be totally wrong though
Well, looks like I got it perfectly right Honestly, it wasn't complicated, especially after the other shout-out done with the same reverbs in another thread. They have very different characters.

I'll say though I'm EXTREMELY surprised that anybody would consider the b/VVV example to be any good, because as I stated in my comment, the chorusing is way too high and makes this very unpleasant resonating wave with the drums. I guess it depends on the monitoring also (Audeze headphones here going through SPL Phonitor).

R2 is really just exceptionally good.

that's why music is art and not math... it's all very subjective.

The resonance is down to user error as all I did was call up a preset and go!
VVV can be tweaked to taste.

Thats as I thought actually. I only really liked C. I have Relab and it's great for some things but not everything all the time. It's true what they say about AE reverbs though, it sounded the more correct out of all of them. Didn't get in the way of the drums at all.

You're right. Maybe that is not a so good idea to put the results in the first post as nobody can redo the test later.

I'm hearing R2 as the smoothest and most realistic to my ear. VVV was a bit shallow, bright n nasty in comparison, with the 480 in between but closer to R2, though some of that could likely be tamed in the settings. Given that this type of verb is not aimed at hyper-realism, it's purely a matter of taste and context, though I can't help but like the R2 easily above the others.

Why don't you do 5 mixes using these 5 plugin's plate algos. If you got time to kill that is.
